Policy Analysis in Indonesia and Australia

Australia Climate Change Communication

Aim

Examine the current landscape of climate policies and their relevance to rural communities.

This requires knowing what climate policies currently exist (and what issues are not currently covered by policy). We are achieving this through:

  • Identify existing climate policies.
  • Highlight gaps or issues not addressed by these policies.
  • Understand the specific impacts and applicability of these policies within rural contexts.

Focus on Rural Communities: Contribute to the development of more inclusive and effective climate policies.

Goal: Address the unique challenges and needs of rural areas.

Why?

Globally, climate policies are inadequate to halt current climate harms or prevent things from getting significantly worse.

Citizen engagement with climate action, including demanding better policy, is required.

Climate literacy is connected to stronger policy support (Pan et al 2023).
